Through the lens of design, at the heart of a rich dialogue between the olfactory and chromatic worlds, Carole Calvez, in collaboration with Marta Bakowski, creates unique narratives and imaginings intended to offer a fresh perspective on the realm of scents in our everyday lives.
« Halo » is a sensory device for olfactory restitution through the experience of color and light perception. Presented in the form of a wall light, the object is made up of a colored patch that can be manipulated back and forth, allowing a scent to be deployed while diffusing a halo of colored light, variable in intensity. This materialization of the smell through a chromatic interaction makes it possible to express the subtlety and complexity of the facets coming from the same raw material. In its manipulation, the colored light gains scale and gives off a sensation of space, thus translating the volume of the olfactory notes, while the colors transcribe their different characters.

Creation of Halo, an olfactory luminaire that diffuses scents and colours:
design of a dry odour diffusion system that emits no particles (non-toxic to health and non-polluting)
design of the ‘wall light’ object
Presentations of Halo :
On the occasion of Design Week 2024 in Milan, the pair chose to work on so-called “electric” and “metallic” smells, echoing the world of furniture and objects, and for the first time in his research, worked on luminous matter.
Halo was also presented in the exhibition « Chronicles of Creation » at the JAD (2024-2025).
